Bahne: Correct Pronunciation

I just picked one off craigslist, and don’t know the proper pronunciation.

Bahne like the german road Autobahn (sans e), or is it

Bahne, with a long A, rhyming with Cane?

Perhaps it is Bahne and rhymes with Donna?

maybe Bahne rhyming with Granny?

Does Bahne rhyme with Rainy?

Seriously, I know some of you are snickering, but I had been mispronouncing Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy’s name for about 15 years before I learned the correct pronunciation on Behind the Music. Bill (the first name is easy) Bahne deserves to have his name pronounced correctly, if I’m gonna ride his creation.

Pronounced with a long A.

I’ve always said it so it sounds like this: “Semprini” but Bill is probably right and I MAY be wrong.

Let’s ask Surftech, LOL. Seriously, I’ve heard many people (some claim to know him) who pronounce it like Bill says… with long “A”…followed by long “E”. Bay-Knee(?)

J - I think you are talking about two different guys

what bill says.

like wolf’s bane , or sugar cane. or the ‘a’ in faint.

Since we’re on pronunciation, I’ve been wondering something too…

When I put a fillet around the bottom of a glass-on, is that pronounced;

  1. Fill-aye, as in what you do to a fish to take the meat off the bone.

  2. Fill-it, as in fill it (it being the space where the fin meets the board).

i say paydro, but that’s 'cause i’m cantankerous. i also decided against enrolling my kids in Cabrillo school because I knew I’d go crazy hearing all the people saying it “ca-bril-lo” for 8 years.

Boehne/Bahne… DOH!~my bad.

Please don’t ask me how to say San Luis Obispo.

Potatoe?

You guys are driving me crazy. Everyone knows it’s potatoe, not potato!

Because it was discovered by the French, it’s St. Louis Obispeaux
