Bali boards and killer surf shots!

ome shots of the 6’2" rounded pin and 6’4" swallow tail I made for Pro surfer Ryan Ragan’s trip to Bali.

The shot’s are pretty exciting for me as a board builder.
These are the first to make it out of the country

Surf shots coming next!

STAY STOKED!

Hey Todd amazing boards and amazing surfing! really cool

OH!

In Case anyone was wondering…

Constructed using ZERO fiberglass.
Our new bamboo material, EPS, Resin-X and ProBox.

Thanks Cristoph!

Nice bottom turns!!

all done with 6’ 4" swallow tail?

yes I was wondering -> the good ol thruster. How about some measurements - tail width, rocker, fin positions… everything you are prepared to give away!

when does he use the 6’ 2" rounded pin as opposed to the 6’ 4" swallow tail?

Hi MrJ!

I’ll give you whatever I can remember. We did both of these boards For Ryan in 4 days so unfortunately I didn’t take a lot of notes.

The 6’4" is his step-up. That’s why it’s the only one in these shots. 15’ faces were comon on this day.

If I had it to do over, I think I would have given it a little more tail rocker.  I did the fin position in a standard 3.5" and 11" because of the adjustability of the ProBox. It allows the board to be more versatile.

The 6’2"  is for steep OH to DOH, but DOH is the absolute max for for this surfer and this board.

If I can think of any more pertinent info, I’ll let you know.

Thanks!

go get em Toddster!

Hey Toddster, have you got some infos about your glassing (layers) and the total weight?

Greetz

ok cheers for the info Todd, I was a bit curious as to why the shorter board looked narrower so you have answered that, but I want more info if you can remember! lol

I have a fascination with the technical details of what the pros are riding, so any tail width, wide point measurements, what blank?

Despite the fact that my general ordinariness, skinny build and formative years spent skating merrily on top of the surface aboard 80s twinnies means that my surfing doesn’t remotely resemble that of a pro I have convinced myself that if I can analyse the pro measurements and scale them up for my middle age I will be able to rip! I’ve already collected some info from Surfding who has a son on the WQS

Ah yes…that oh so familiar illusion.  I know…because I still have it! LOL

Being that surfding is one of my BIG mentors…anything he told you I would agree with 100%.

I seem to remember consulting with him during the build of these two boards as well…but like I said…I did both in 4 days, so the whole thing is kind of a blur.

I have a way of getting fairly accurate measurements from a pic of the board…I’ll see what I can come up with for you if you still want me too…but I’d trust surfding’s advice over mine if I were you. LOL

Todd: It's great to see your boards in good waves riden by a credible surfer!

Job Well Done!

Sounds great Todd, but looks…

Par for course I don’t see anything…
