hey there…
shaping my first fish type board with a few differences and need some advice on the tail…
got halfway into it and figured the tail is was too wide - but I really like the overall shape and dimensions. (5’11’’ x 181/2 x 21/2). so I got thinking about cutting some bumps/wings into the tail to bring the width down and going quad.
lots of sways research got me to the tail outline you see on the white blank
once I’m happy with the blank shape - then I can carry on and use it as a guide for the balsa shape.
My impression is that wings/bumps might be quite specailized and might also take me into the realms of concaves etc to get right so ANy advice on moving forward would be well appreciated!!!
The board is gonna be used for kitesurfing 2 - 4 ft mushy blown out stuff mostly, sometimes a really cool set comes in though!.I suppose the idea is she needs to travel pretty fast and turn pretty snappy, but when you catch a decent wave - get that locked in/floating feeling…
for the sailing part (going up wind when not surfing) she needs to have plenty of grip and drive?
I’m light at 60kg so I’m not totally sure what kind of volume to hit for either…
anyhow - i know it’s not conventional surfing as such - but on the wave - it’s pretty much the same
Any advice and ideas would be great!!1
thanks…
