Bandwidth Issues?

What’s up with sways lately?

Like Chip said there’s tons of lurkers and performance has been dog slow… to the point of making the experience not worth the wait for the screen refreshes…

Has some boy genius hacked into here and begun DOS (Denial of Service) attacks on the server? or has the bandwidth been chewed to the poitn where it can’t handle the volume…

Just seems odd lately…

From my experience looks like there’s a problem either in the infrastructure or some no gooder playing around.

I hope the system performance improves…

Otherwise I can’t play…won’t fit into the multitask schedule…

explaination…

How this happens…

you set up a ping to the IP going off consistantly and contiously to bog down the server from establishing connections to other parties. Because the server is to busy answering the hacker’s calls it appears slow or unavailable to other valid users… Some tech at the host site should scope the pathway and see what’s going on .

The other probability is that sways has just gotton too big for the host to handle…

Happens alot…

I was wondering the same thing.

Is this some Patriot Act conspiracy?

Or is the Internet simply clogged with retards?

First I thought my machine’s HD was full of cookies.

Which it was, but I purged that. Blech!

And dumped my cache.

Is that all I can do? Or should I harass my provider? They are already on my slist for messing up my TV signal. But they are giving me credit for the month so that’s the good news.

Oh well. Back to the salt mine.

Npw I’m wondering if all Sways traffic is being routed through Hicksy’s living room:-)

o thats the problem …everybody has it slow i was about to call my server and rant to them that swaylock is slow! …i want my money back ! maybe i should get some work done and stop lurking too…i cant help it,its a drug that i like its the reason i have this intramanet robot

Geez your right! I’ve noticed it too.

This is obviously unacceptable.

Either there’s a problem at my host or the sheer volume is slowing things down.

Last month was the busiest month yet. Almost 5000 unique visitors pulling 40,000 pages PER DAY.

I’m going to look into it and see what I can do. This will be fixed. Untill then…please hang in there.

I guess I’m guilty of pulling about a quarter of those pages myself … sorry guys…

Howzit Greg, Gotta be the Chinese taking the other 75% and they are trying to sabotage the Swaylocks brain trust for ideas.Aloha,Kokua

I was just going to post the same topic. Bulletin boards do not tend to be giant bandwidth hogs so I would check what your server load is. I am guessing that Swaylocks is sharing its server space with others (its the cheapest way to go about it).

What about this damned aussie posting 5 368 457 photos?

(I’m pwetty suwe he is the culpwit! Thlow him to the floow!)

Thanks for posting this thread. I thought my network server was overloaded.

Lucky we don’t use snail mail anymore, eh?

I’ve noticed as well. I have a big internet connection at work (45Mbps) and it’s still pretty hammered.
