I responded to a lot of advertisements on craigslist.org, so I will check out some boards soon. I am interested in a used board, and my budget is $100. Can someone fill me in on the 'know how" to buy a used board? Thanks.
My mistake. I should have not posted this question in the site features section. I won’t move it, because I don’t think it would better the situation. If someone can answer my question, I would appreciate it.

If you are in the San Diego or South OC area send me a PM. I have two surfboards for sale that meet your budget.

just a suggestion, not a reply to this beginner.
Maybe there ought to be a beginners forum, a newbie forum
and a ‘Askew’ forum for those who cant’ explain the topic in the Subject header (‘Help’, ‘Important’, ‘Newbie Needs Advice’, ‘Hi Im John from Timbuktu’).
As to RunDmc1986, I’ll catch up with you later when you want online surfing lessons.
oh now you’ve done it!
surfing will take over your life.
and a hundred boards
at a hundred bux wont be enough
believe your magic board is waiting out there for you.
look into my watch…
you will be the happiest man in the universe
when you catch your first wave.
beware insincerity
seek truth and integrity
.a hundred bux aint much
if the board is real good
you still owe the person
who sells it too you.
if its a piece of junk that needs repair
you got your money’s worth
and you dont owe the guy nothin’…
…ambrose…
dont be smug
stay humble and sincere
listen carefully to your teachers
you may just understand.
This beginner likes a lot of nose scoop, so we can go straight off and have some tendancy to not dig in the nose so much, problem is boards with much nose scoop are rare. Beginners need bigger boards also but not so big you grow out if it in only a few days. Have you considered renting to get started so you have some idea of what will be needed.
What’s your weight and height?
i bought a used eddie picollo 6’2" short board for $100. no major damages. The board rides fine. last saturday, I caught a wave by crouching on one knee.
Yeah Daddy! Way to go rundmc! I suggest starting out in the foamie and progressing out to the swells as you figure things out. Don’t hold the board between you and an incoming wave or you may lose a few teeth. If you push your board away make sure nobody is behind you. Have fun. Mike
did you know timbuktu really exists?
it lies in africa… Mali.
