Bells Beach preservation society petiiton

Even if you think you will never make it there - it's worth preserving the natural beauty and rawness for the future.

My dad just got a job in geelong, so i'll be visiting him from now on. Can't wait to see the famous bells beach!. Only about 30 minutes from their place.

Ive been there  a dozen times or more,   Its certainly an area that looks fairly pristine, but its a cold and windswept place where the trees are gnarled and the ground is frozen into granite. You dont get people standing around in their budgie smugglers for long !

The greatest threat to the area would be us surfers and probably developers whod like to chuck up a multi-storey blocks of flats or two.

Oh and the cops dont like you camping there or in surrounding parks.

I drove 13 hours to get there with a  drunken mate so I had to set up the tent in the rain on my own only to be moved on by the cops at 1am. I'll never forget THAT road trip !

" The need for meaningfull discussion about the impact of commercial surfing events on the Bells Beach reserve AND on the recreational users of the reserve''.

To my mind the biggest issue in surfing is the rights of recreational surfers verses the corrupt surf corporations.

Have recreational surfers ever had a chance to vote whether they want a surfing contest at Bells or anywhere else ?

Who owns the ocean ?

Money equals power and Quikbuck pay a huge bribe to the victorian government to hold a contest at Bells and deny access to recreational surfers.

Why should a minority(Quikbuck) have the right to dictate to the majority(recreational surfers).

This scenario is happening all over the world e.g the middle east at the moment, and people are starting to wake up.

Surfing and humanity needs to evolve.
