Looking good! Is there any changes for this board?
Started work on my next board now, still pretty rough at the moment, going to glue on some balsa rails and add a balsa skin to it before glassing, an evolution of my earlier efforts (last one can be seen here: http://seasonalsurfcraft.blogspot.co.uk/2012/04/new-style-bodyboard-part-2_09.html?q=new+style).
There’s going to be a lot of changes to this one being considerably thinner than the last one and will be sans fin with a base style similar to that of my solid balsa board (http://seasonalsurfcraft.blogspot.co.uk/2013/02/scrubbing-up-lil-sim.html), the base contours on that seem more than enough to give it some control in my experiences with her so far and loving the extra speed it seems to have now that there’s no drag.
I’ll try and make it down to the Wales Bodyboard Club jam if it’s on next weekend so you can have a crack on the solid balsa board if you want.
HI, there was nothing wrong with the old board, but just to try it out we put slightly less rocker in the nose, and extended the concave further forward (on the previous board it was just the back half) This might make faster in weak welsh waves or just mees it up!!
I wont be at the Jam, off to G-land for a month!!
Fofgot to mention your board, I think the key elements thst i stole.borrowed from tom wegner and ther botton needs a concave and V in the tail, witha chine rail, I put every thing he used on the seaglass tunas and alaia’s ontot the bottom of my first board and it works perfectly.

(he does say if you dont have the flex it wont work, but my board works fine)
Had a crack at one of those last summer! Possibly put too much concave into mine as it seems very keen to spin out but then found if you use body positioning to work against this spin it has an awful lot of hold. Was also impressed with how easy it was too paddle in to waves, being only 5’2 and using it as a stand up I had no real problems once I’d worked out how to avoid pearling it! The concave on this board extended all the way up to about a foot and a half from the nose so will be interesting to hear how you feel the extended concave compares to the first board. Interesting video though, hadn’t seen that one yet, have fun in G Land though!
that looks very nice rugerdier. what kind of material have you used there ?
It was a cheap little side project that I was interested in but didn’t fancy spending £500 on a Seaglass board so was made from some XPS foam with solid balsa rails and fibreglassed with epoxy. The balsa wasn’t the greatest quality so I tinted the resin yellow.
G Land ?. Out of interest what Paipo will you be taking?
Cheers
Mpcutback
The hard edges on your rails release water.

You noted: “Possibly put too much concave into mine as it seems very keen to spin out but then found if you use body positioning to work against this spin it has an awful lot of hold”. Whereas with standup boards it’s a matter of finding a sweet spot for the feet, with paipo, body positioning is everything. People assume riding prone is about just lying there - there’s a lot more going on.
Krusher - I don’t know if Sean Ross still goes to G-Land, but his interview has some photos of him there. California, G-Land where next?
Bob
Here are some finished pictures of No2, Comparing it to No1 we seem to have given it a lot more volume and the concave is not as deep, I fear it may not be as good as No1 in G-land, but the extra volume will be of use back in wales for the small gutless summer waves.
Mpcutback, I will be taking both my paipo and my fave bodyboard.
after G-land stuck back in wales till maybe an october ireland trip!
Krusher,
It would be interesting to one board on top of the other to compare the rocker. Photo one suggests a fair bit.

It’s a bit of a bad pic to be honest (log casts optical ilusions etc) its shaped from the middle of a 7’3a US blank which is pretty flat in the centre.
last time I was asked for rocker pic of my other board so i tried to get a quick one of this board, but i think I have just shown it all wrong. Will try to get better pics of both on a flat surface when i return from my trip.
