im thinking clark foam 6’7" So it’ll yield like a 6’6" i want a board with like a 13" nose and low rocker and triple concave and maybe a wing or two in the tail. is this a good blank? any recommendations? thanks
But I guess that does even matter. Depending on how flat you want your rocker to be, that 6’7" might not be the call. What kind of rocker are you talking about? What kind of thickness do you want to net after your concaves (tail and width measurements)? It sounds like you are looking for more of a big boy thruster with a single or double wing swallow. Check out the 6’8"H blank. It is a little fuller than the 6’7" and would provide you with various rocker options. I’ve used the 6’7" before and liked it, but it was always hard to get. If you give some more info., like how much you weigh, where you surf, what you are looking for out of the board, and most importantly (truthfully) how well you surf, you are sure to get some good suggestions on a good blank for you.
well, im 160lbs 5’10" and im an intermediate surfer. i surf east coast and the great lakes. mostly waist to head high. not very good shape but decent. and really i just wanted a board that would get some more speed and good float out of the waves while still being loose. im not sure about tail width but nose width i want fuller and the thickness no less than 2 1/2" maybe as low as 2 3/8" ive checked out WRV and their rocket and CI boards their sashimi is basically what im looking for. i appreciate your help!
My only experience with fresh water surfing has been at Typhoon Lagoon and what a difference in buoyancy. Have you shaped much? If not I would suggest a 6’7"R. It would be a close tolerance blank for you - 14 3/16" nose 2 5/8" thick with a bottom length of 6’ 7 3/8". This blank has a bunch of rocker variations as well. 6’8"H is a little thicker 2 3/4" with a 14" nose 6’ 8" bottom length. 6’9" R thicker still 2 13/16" nose= 14 3/8" bottom length 6’ - 10 1/4". What I’m getting at is if you are sketchy on rocker and foil get a closer tolerance blank and go from there (most plugs have various rockers available). By getting and an oversized blank you can manipulate your rocker by cutting the length from the front or back of the blank. If you want flatter rocker, good float, earlier wave entry go with the bigger blank if you feel comfortable doing a bit more shaping on it. Good luck.
