Best online site for longboard fins?

Hey everyone. I’m looking for a nice longboard fin for a board I just shaped for my dad. It’s a 9’6" knock-off of a Nuuhiwa noserider and it’s a single fin.

I checked out True Ames and Rainbow fins already and they have nice selections, but if anyone has any other suggestions, fire away.

Also, anyone know where I can get a replica of the original Nuuhiwa noserider fins (short of making one myself)?

Thanks.

i like Rainbow, and i’m pretty sure they have something in the spirit of Nuuhiwa. also, Island Fin Design might be worth a look.

Go www.ebay.com , good & cheap lots to choose from .

Good luck .

I have a 9" Island Fin Designs on my new longboard and I’m loving it. It keeps the hawaiian feel to it and is a really nice fin. I’m digging it.

Hey there,

here in OZ. theres a great brand called “Fluid Foils” dont know if the ship to the U.S but check em out at

www.fluidfoils.com.au

FoamEZ and Fiberglass Supply carry fins and are nice guys to deal with. I called Ofishl recently for one of their carbon reinforced cutaways and received excellent service on purchase of a single fin. Fins Unlimited also helped me with a 15" longbox that most people I called hadn’t even heard of. Both arrived as promised - exactly what I ordered!

www.finsunlimited.com ,click on the joel tudor logo on the bottom and there it is.

9’ board = 9"-10"fin

10’ board = 10"-11"fin a big full fin may be harder to turn, but it will noseride better.and if you want to take your new board out in hurricane swlls, it will hold in better.

Well, anyway, I’m Josh. I surf with all those guys. You’ll usually see me talking to Big Bill, or Drew.

Here’s a hint: I’m the one on the shortboard…

By the way, who surfs like Tommy Curren at Washington Ave?

Josh,

im just goofing around-i know who you are.

i read your first post and then called bill because i thought i remembered him telling me you were shaping that type of board.

bill told me to write the tom curren thing.

Ron,

The board came out pretty nicely. There’s a few bumps on the rails and I screwed up the lamination in a few spots, but overall, it looks good. The next time around will be a vast improvement.

The board is for my dad and he doesn’t know I’ve shaped it yet. I’m driving it down to Virginia this weekend to surprise him.

The wife and pup are doing well. We actually had the dog’s hips X-rayed a few weeks ago and it turned out he has hip dysplasia and he’s only 1year old. He’s on meds and a strict swim workout regimen.

I’ll see you in the lineup if we ever get any surf!!!

If the Fins Unlimited Tudor Nuuhiwa box fin is anything like the glass-on, it will be a good fin for your board.

I have a 9’6 Tudor Nuuhiwa II with a 10.5" Nuuhiwa glass-on…the board is great and the fin feels perfect.

I’m from Long Beach, New York, so I imagine our waves are somewhat similar…Washington Blvd. on my end.

I spoke with Bill Bahne a while back, and he said they also make the glass-ons, so I imagine it will be a pretty close match.

wow…that is absolutely beatiful. i just finished shaping a 9’6" for my dad. it’s a very classic style longboard. plan shape looks like a cross between the G&S Perfecto and the Hobie Vintage. i got Wingnut Anchor fin from Rainbow Fin Co. the fin cuts 10.75" deep, and 9’6" is the shortest board i’d use it with, but it’s such a solid noserider i just couldn’t resist. my next projects are a 7’0"-7’6" retro style board for myself, then a 10’8" old skool Greg Noll style board for a good friend (and a new father), and then a Nuuhiwa style pintail similar to that shaped by Tyler Hatzikian is “Singlefin: Yellow”. the pinny is definitely getting that Nuuhiwa fin you’ve got on your tudor. ooohh…i’m getting excited about shaping it already!
