Bethany Hamilton Places 5th in Kona Surf Contest

Ten weeks ago she almost died at Hanalei when the shark took off her left arm. Yesterday she surfs in her first contest since the accident. Words fail to describe this kind of courage and heart…except maybe one…inspiration. Here’s the link to the Star-Bulletin story. http://starbulletin.com/2004/01/11/news/

Wow!

Do the waves in Hawaii really have that much push to them that you can paddle with just one arm? That girl rocks- except I am getting tired of hearing her preach the Lord- but what are you going to do- that is what keeps her going through all this.

Howzit Me, bethany kicks her legs to help in catching waves with only 1 arm. She says the hard part is getting to her feet is a little hard sometimes. She comes from a very religious family but she’s not a fanatic about it like some born again christians I’ve come across. Aloha, Kokua

I find myself complaining about the most trivial things - too many people in the lineup, too cold to go out, bummed cuz my wax is wrong, getting too old to kick it. Here’s Beth with a smile and an attitude that shines! I try to let the Lord direct my life, though I don’t make it much of an issue and often even feel a little guilty that I don’t, but man, she’s got it down. As Laird was once heard saying,“If you don’t believe there’s something bigger than we are, you better go sit under a big tree for a while…and ponder it all”. Here’s to Beth and to a new look at attitude. Aloha

YOU ROCK GIRL !

Miracales happen everyday. God bless Bethany Hamilton!
