Shark Catch in Yarmouth Nova Scotia

This Mako was hooked in the mouth, only fought slightly for 15

minutes, came up along side of the boat to have a look, long enough

for one of the crew to put a rope around it’s tail !!! That’s when the

s**t hit the fan!!

The Shark took off towing the 42 foot fishing boat backwards

through the water at about 7 Knots. Just like in JAWS. The boat was

taking on water, the Shark would jump completely out of the water at

times. This went on for an hour before the Shark actually drowned.

He weighed in at 1035 LBS

Hey Hicksy, any way you could post the dimensions of this big fish? Overall weight? Fin setup? Anything that can cruise at 7 knots and boost big airs definitely captures my interest…

It’s a 5 fin setup with a central tunnel and flex fin. About 18’ x 48", very soft rails and a pin nose.

hey Ervil, look at that perty fish, lets kill it…

My dad and I hit a sunfish off Cronulla a way back, nearly tore the outboard off.

Wouldn’t want one to nibble on me, they’ve got sharp teef.

Any reason that these guys caught and drowned the shark? Seems like a bad karma move to me. Hope they’re not surfers. Just like Shipman said - look at that fish, let’s kill it. It boggles my mind…

I’ve said it before: that’s not real blood around the mouth, the fishermen painted it on to make the shark look scary.

Bad karma indeed. Next time the boat’s going under!

fear of the shark can be developmental…ambrose…fishermen can be more afraid of sharks because they see them more than anyone,in the food chain knee deep …water world wins the shark bite fantasy award in my book

wow those guys must be tough -
