Some of the guys want different logos on their boards. What is the drill for getting the inlays from the different manufacturers? Will they supply them or do you have to buy them?? Mike
Why not just buy the board from the mfgrs.?
Last I checked I don’t think O’Neil, Globe, Hurley, … Made surfboards. Some of the young guys like the look. They can’t get enough stickers. Decals, Stickers, laminates That is what I am after. It would be blasphemous to put another “Board Maker’s” label on a board they didn’t make. Especially one of mine!. No help…Anyone else with real input???
bobby allen made a board a coupla years ago he had over 100 lams on it he asked everybody everywhere for lams and they gladly gave em to him…it was like they got to participate in his novel project and the board was …and is a screaming success and oppertunity for everybody involved to drop their “trip” if they were on one and get some free exposure for their lam…in bobbys case they were reasonably sure that they wer’nt facilitating a bad copy of their stuff or some other negative Jive…ask nicely and best in person to the worker bees in the factory and not the Queen in front polishing her nails in the show room…heck if you sweep the floor in the shop you probobly could get a couple out of the trash …sign on as the sweep up guy and get paid in lams that might amuse somebody… If you offer to buy em thats good too they do cost 'em money…respect for fisical…($) …limitations go a long way…ambrose…117- 130 somting like that…two of mine maybe 3 …the best lam is your lam …i if association validates your trp…put other peoples lams on your stuff until you get cocky then stop and charge em to put their logos on your stuff … …didn’t picasso put candy bar wraappers on his early paintings until he made a name for himself people only bought his stuff because they loved commercial chocolate…not- ing- ham
I saw that board at the bay.
Howzit Ambrose, That was a great board Bobby made, I know I gave him some of my lams. About the only lam that wasn’t on it was a Papa sau, for obvious reasons.Aloha, Kokua
daw bobby he said 160 lams on that board…ambrose
Krokus: Just ask them, they won’t be free but cheap. Clark Foam sells them, DaKine free if you order product, the rest probably just want to cover costs plus shipping. Why not just go to the web site, save an image and then make your own with lam paper? Good luck. Tom S.
Thanks Tom…I can do that just thought some of the manufacturers would supply them …cheap to free. They can actually do some full color lams for you at Kinko’s with their UV stable ink…$10 a sqare foot!!! Didn’t mean to give the wrong impression of what I was after. Thanks again! Mike
Howzit Ambrose, He’s supposed to give me some of the Bud Light lams. Are they going to spread Earl’s ashes at the Bay, if so do you have any idea when. Aloha, Kokua
For bigger names they may be hard to find, as a glasser we have seen fewer and fewer laminates over the past years. There are several reasons 1 being cost 2 they now make special mylar stickers that only go to team members because they want them to take them off after they ditch thier boards, they dont want misrepresnetation like someguy who cant surf well with a hurley lam. I also work for a major action sports company and we havent had lams in 3 years. We do some pro boards in the shop and riders for split hurley oneill etc and they all use mylars theres no lams for any of the team guys. The ones that do still have lams the team rider has to call in and have them sent to us.
