Is there any consensus about using smaller fins as the waves get bigger? I was out this AM in some solid overhead waves and going so much faster my ordinarily pretty loose board felt stiff. Anybody here go to smaller fins as the waves get bigger?
Yes. Calif. waves, 7’’ to 8 inches. Hawaii, NS, 6,25’’ to 7 inches. Single fins, well foiled. Best results, were with thick foils.
If using smaller fins place them closer to the rail for better bite into the wave face… 1" - 1 1/8" in from the rail.
