bill shrosbree....

ok, i got this surfboard a few years back as a gift from my uncle. if i remember correctly, him and a few of his friends found it on a trip down to mexico, so obviously its used. i have never surfed before, and have no use for it, and i was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about where it came from, or pehaps what its worth. it is about 6’0" and has a little sunset logo that says “Shros” in big letters in the middle, and “custom surboard designs by Bill Shrosbree, Cardiff” on the bottom. someone please help me out here, cuase i havent a clue what it is and i cant find anything about this guy online anywhere…

About 20 years ago he shaped for Sunset Surfboards in Encinitas. Mostly stock tri fins. But he also made these pin-tail egg outlines with blocky tucked-under rails and a big ol’ dome v right infront of a single fin box. Not too memorable except it rode the tube like a bat out of hell. The steeper and faster the better. Probably worth 50 to 100 bucks depending on the condition…

Bill shapes Joel Tudors longboads now and worked for Takayama fors years. He goes way back to the southbay at Bings. He was one of the main shapers at Sunset surfboards for many years with Sid Madden and a host of many others.Jim Phillips can add to this for sure.Keep that board and ride it.KP.

ive got a peter pan slug “hobie” 9-6 shaped by shroz ,beat to hell, i dont care if people think its a kook board or girlie board, its a wave hog i pull it out on knee high or wind chop

Peter said that when Stewart dropped him as a shaper for the slugs, that no one else could ever get it right after that. Tomorrow is Shros’s birthday.
