this is one damn good looking Bing ad from the 70s! such a nice shape and what incredible craftsmanship it must have taken to place those stringers at such uniform angles. anyone doing anything similar to this in the industry today? anyone ever get a session in on something like this? i’m wondering what kind of response a board like this one has to offer. i think i’d love a stick like this one!
Wow! Thanks for that add. Now I know who really designed the 6’8" Patagonia Fletcher Choinard board that I’ve been riding. It is nearly identical, only without the swallow tail.

Roger Hall and his team.
A few days ago, Tom TAKAO’s excellent website http://www.theshaperstree.com/ featured Mike EATON as “shaper of the month” (december). In one of the photos, Mike was shown shaping this very board. Maybe you can contact Tom if you’re interested.
Had 2 copies of an issue of Surfer with that ad in it…
Cut one out that is tacked to the wall of my shaping bay for inspiration.
Loved the days when advertising in surf mags was boards not rags…
Jimbob…
You can just order the blank with wedged stringers. The blank manufacturer takes care of that part of the craftsmanship. The shape does appear to be ahead of it’s time.
