Blank recommendation for a fish

Can anyone reccomend me a Teccel blank for a board with similar dimensions to a Lis Fish?

I’ve searched the catalog and can’t really find anything suitable, a little too much tail rocker it seems, or a little too thick.

Link to the catalog here:http://www.surfteccell.com.br/NOVO/catalog.pdf

It’s somewhat of an eyesore compared to Clark…

If you must go with Teccel, pick one of the kneeboard blanks, that’s the closest rocker. Or go ultra oldschool and get a longboard blank and make 2 fishes out of it.

I went with Rhyno, good foam, used their 6’2C clark equivalent, rockers match up with 6’2 C (my Ksmall was made of clark 6’2C and the Rhyno blank matched up).

If its too thick that’s no problem, thats why we use planers, unless Teccel has weaker on the inside.

so i’m guessing the 6’2 F # 3 is my best bet?

use Rhyno foam…MUCH better stuff. it’s available nearby, and i’ve heard good things about their kneeboard blank. a friend of mine has a 5’6" twin fish made from it, and it goes GREAT!

i’ve used the rhyno kneeboard blank you’re tlaking about, and i’d much rather use it again.

where’s the distributor around here? i thought the closest place was Melbourne…

that’s it, man. but most local shapers down here are using Rhyno foam (best available). i’m sure you could make a few calls and get your hands on one locally. or, given the misery of our current flat spell, wait for a little wave to come into CFL and take the trip. i’d go up to melbourne for a new blank and waist-high surf. this lake atlantic is driving me bonkers!!!

I use the Teccel 6’6F and I believe it has a little to much tail rocker to be a true Retro board, on a 6’0 just skiming the bottom I usually get around 2 1/8" tail rocker for the fish. But the boards have been riding unreal and have had nothing but stoked customers on the way they ride. Go figure? just my 2 cents-josh

every teccel i’ve cut into has been riddled with holes and bubbles. have yours been better?

…the Surfblank Brazil (Teccel) do the 6 2 F thinking in Modern fish not in a retro rocker

if you need a retro rocker

you have 2 choices: 1 if is a small fish go with the 66F. 2 if is more than 5 8, go with the 7 6 plug

—Soulstice,

may be you have lucky with Rhino foam

because here all the shapers that have been using it, including me, found plenty of foam bubbles in the bottom, after skin and shape the bottom and change the rocker (not in the deck)

the Rhinno is way heavier than the Surfblanks/Teccels in all of the densities

the Surfblank chem is the best chem that I see,

Burford had (I dunno now) in the early 90 s a super nice chem too

and I tell ya that I shaped a lot of Brazilian foam

I have had 1 or 2 blanks with the worm holes but thats out of about 40 blanks, and the 2 that did have the worm holes were very minor and it was just in the 6’6F blank. I have used KingMac foam also and it is pretty good, but have had some worm holes in them also. I guess it all depends on the blank batch you get?. I do prefer the Teccel though the blanks are very strong and light. Just my opinion on them.-josh

The K-fish blank you refer to is indeed an old kneeboard blank, but with a little re-foiling

it will yield an excellent fish. Atlantic Surfoam in Melbourne is the place(321-259-1508).

I respect reverb’s opinion, but I’ve shaped hundreds of Rhynos and found the foam to be

of the highest quality, especially in terms of a lack of shotgun air. It’s my favorite of the

‘‘new’’ PU. And I’m not saying that because I did a plug for them, that’s my honest assessment.
