anybody happen to know where to get blanks in NC around the wilmington and jacksonville area? if so what brand is offered. thanks
I know WRV sells Rhino foam blanks out at the factory there. If you call them up they can also ship to one of their stores that may be closer to you and you can pick them up. The number for the factory is 252 491-8535.
Hey erie surfer, Rachel pretty much nailed it…its worth the trip to the outer banks WRV store to pick up an order and camp and surf for a few days…You cant beat the prices either for everything, cloth, resin, plugs it rocks!!
Wrightsville Glassing near the ILM airport is selling Exell blanks. I’m working on one right now. The jury is still out.
I’m documenting the shaping of this blank here:http://hoharlabs.com/forum/index.php/topic,10.0.html
I should get more done on it over the weekend if I’m not surfed or rained out.
The Exell blank seems nice and white, not to bubbly, and appears to be based on a Walker plug. It is heavy though. The stringer is thick too. I’m not sure what sort of wood it is but it’s harder than balsa or basswood methinks. One strange thing about the Exell is that it leaves a residue on your hands after handling it–sort of oily feeling. I don’t particularly like that and it makes the dust a little harder to clean off.
Just Foam Blanks are available in Maryland by calling 301 646 5977. Made in the USA and many types of longboard stringer glueups available
