Blanks in Seattle

Hello, I’m a longtime lurker/wannabe shaper - really enjoy this forum!

I’ve searched quite a bit and I can’t find any info about anyone who sells blanks in the Seattle area. It looks like Fiberglass Supply in the gorge is the closest. Does anyone know of any resources that are closer?

Mucho thanks.

Yes,

Try Bobby @ Perfect Wave,E-mail bobby@perfectwave.com he has great MDI blanks, they are a shapers dream, let him know Echo 1 referred you.Hope this helps!

Sorry to semi-hijack, but any washingtonians have a good source on EPS block foam? 1lb. and 2lb. sure would like to break away from the HD insulation foam.

There’s a chem. company that sells urethane blanks in tacoma, the rep stopped by the shop one day and gave me his card and told me they were going to be selling them, but I seem to have misplaced the card. I forget the company because it was right before I was moving to Hawaii and had a lot going on, but I believe it was a company called revchem. Nothing about surfboards blanks is listed on their site, but give them a call and report back with what you find ie blank companies they carry and availability.

Go to Fiberglass supply at least once, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy store, and the drive through the columbia river gorge is beautiful this time of year.

“and the drive through the columbia river gorge is beautiful this time of year.”

Yes - There are spectacular waterfalls all along the gorge from Troutdale on up to the Bonneville Dam.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll report back what I find.

The irony of all of this is I’m going to be down in the gorge in August - but I’ll be on my motorcycle. I’m going to check out Fiberglass Supply and probably stuff my bags with whatever will fit.

I have been buying and preshaping blanks with Precision Shapes. They have two shops one in ballard and another on the eastside. Tons of blanks. Not sure if they sell to the public but its worth a try. I want to try this foam I emailed but it bounced is there a phone number?

I ordered #2 eps in block form from my local home depot. The stuff they stock is probably #1. It took a little pushing, but eventually I found a guy who took good care of me. It wasn’t the cheapest way to go, but blanks end up costing me about half of the cost of buying a blank. Go to the contractor’s desk.

If your looking for perfect wave’s # I think its (425) 827-5323

p.s. Revchem in Tacoma carries Excell blanks at good prices - thanks for the tip!!

either

Meanshapes (Ewaliko)

or

AKA (Kalani)

they have an APS3000/Akubird or what ever it is now and have access to their own foam as well as Marko EPS blanks (I believe) which are about the best EPS surfboard blank you can get retail.

If you can design on the software they use to drive their machine you could probably have them pre-cut it for you as well and just home finish it when you get home.

I would presume they might have access to Midget’s foam as well.

too bad guys like those guys mentioned weren’t around there back in the 70’s when I was there attending UW.

Would’ve made suffering through the Seattle drizzle in my classic blue REI gortex poncho and duck shoes much more manageable.

Yeah ----Mike Ewaliko has plenty good blanks. Surfblanks Aus or he maybe getting Surfblanks America by now. Last I heard he had Marko EPS and access to other EPS as well. These are the best blanks probably on the market and are very reasonable. Just do a search thru the archives for Surfblanks Aus Midget Farrelly and I think you will see what I mean. A little more effort to shape as they are pretty hard, but what a great board they make. Lowel
