Blush Effect - how do u handle it?

Hi all, As title, how do u handle the blush effect? Do u wet sand it after 48 hours dries up? My problems is putting the resin container into hot water for 5 minutes. This is to ensure the viscousity get thinner. Mine using the Dow 331, damn high viscousity~ The layer then dries up in approx. 3 hrs at 28 degree c. The result comes with blush effect. Thanks for your attention. Regards, Crabie

Is the epoxy resin kicking with a cloudy tint to it? It is natural to have a film form on it. That is why you need to skip sand between lamination layers. If you are getting a fish eye effect some thing is contaminated (your resin, bucket, blank, something).

Its quite hard to describe the blush effect… As I put some patch paste into the surface, it could not stick. According to http://www.oneoceankayaks.com/Epoxyhtm/Blusangl.htm … this is so called blush effect. Then I wet sanded it and wipe away the waxy film, the patch paste stick well. I start to hate epoxy~~~~…>>> Is the epoxy resin kicking with a cloudy tint to it? It is natural to have > a film form on it. That is why you need to skip sand between lamination > layers. I start to hate epoxy~~~~… A better description is at http://www.oneoceankayaks.com/Epoxresl.htm#blush I read somewhere else(cannot remember where) that you could wash the blush away with soapy water. Might require some scrubbing tho. I seems to remember whoever wrote that also wrote that sanding the blush was a b**** because you only move the blush around, get it into the tiny grooves created by sanding, etc. I think he cleaned it after the scrubbing with denatured alcohol. Crabie, are the no boatbuilders or boat equipment stores in hong kong? They should have epoxies. Best regards and best of luck, Håvard
