Board #2, retro/vintage with Head high + cababilities

So my first board was a quad fish. After some testing (will have pics soon) it works like magic in smaller surf up to head high. So now that leaves me the next task of trying to make a board that works in shoulder to head/over conditions. The only concrete requirement I have is that it is a retro/vintage design.

I see that a lot of guys rode wide boards, with a very long single fin at pipe back in the day. Is this the way to go?

Please please please… some input would be divine.

Thanks to all in advance, PEACE!

The board I think I’m missing right now is a 7’0" round-pin winger singlefin… complete with the beak nose. I’ll probably get mine around 20" wide and 2-5/8" thick. Wide point forward a bit. Thinned out some in the tail with a hard edge on the rails. This will be my go-to board. It should work in most conditions.
