Board Art!

I have just bought a new board, but with an injured back I wanted to focus on my other passion…ART! What can I paint my board with? I’ve been reading about Posca pens, Spray paint, and other media, but I don’t know which to use on a board that is already glassed. Thanx in advance for any help you can provide!

posca pens are good. zig pens are better (but difficult to find). paint it, and then seal it up (perhaps with an acryllic).

Thank you. What kind of detail can I get with the pens? Will I have to sand the surface before my artistic endeavors?

no there is no need to sand a finished board. you can order the pens over the i-net or perhaps your local artstore can get them. afterwards seal the art with acryl clear lack spray ( i´m not quite sure if matt or gloss)

have fun clemens

Old school .sand mix tints and pigments with resin and surfacing agent paint on board…akin to painting the Cistine   Chapel in fresco…permanent color…ambrose…without a scaffold

Jennifer,

I wouldn’t call this board art, but you can have fun with the poscas. I did this on the sanded hotcoat and sealed it with clear acrylic spray paint. Not the best thing to have on the bottom of your board surfing in the Red Triangle. Maybe I’ll win one of the Darwin’s Awards. Mike

here is an interesting link for some ideas for board art www.petessurfartanddesign.co.uk

oops, should have been www.surfartanddesign.co.uk

You might be on to something in terms of white-pointers etc, I read somewhere that handfeeders of sharks in aquariums report that sharks are very wary when they can see they eyes of the feeder and will act more aggresively if they think that they cant be seen. MAYBE, having your fish-eye visible might be a way of scaing off Mr or Mrs Shark.

Cheers

Mr. T,

Glad to hear it. What’s a white pointer? Great White? Call em “whities” around here. I’ll paint eye balls on all of them. Better yet. I’ll let you do the experiments. Let me know how it comes out.mike
