board bags.

What kind of board bags do you folks like? I’m gonna have to stick my longboard in the bed or my truck with the tail sticking out and I want to protect it from the tailgate. It seems like nobody makes a medium duty bag, all I’ve found is the knit socks or the $100 dollar and up travel bags. Thanks in advance, Scott.

What kind of board bags do you folks like? …The chinese mystery board socks are more trouble than there worth, travel bags are too expensive…So…I use a one sided bag that pulls over the bottom ,but not the deck…it made by Alf Laws…I don’t know if he makes them anymore but there a great day bag!Herb.

My bags cost about $15 each. I made them myself out of medium weight cotton canvas (chambry). It’s very easy, and they protect my boards very well. Just lay the canvas over the board, and cut the canvas about 1.5" bigger. Except, add 4" at the tail end for a draw string. Use the top for a pattern for cutting the bottom. Put the front sides together and sew them together a zigzag stitch if possible. End the stitch about 4" from the tail end. Cut a draw cord, and tie it into a loop. Pin the canvas ends over the loop and hem them, creating a channel for the cord to slip in. Turn your bag inside-out, and insert your board (nose first). Pull and tie the draw cord. The whole process takes half an hour. -Noodle>>> What kind of board bags do you folks like? I’ve had good luck with the DaKine Daylite bags. A 9’0" nets at 37.00, most shops sell 'em for $59.00. Rainbow Fins/Distributing sells them. They are a step up from a sock (pain in in the ass)and they work great for stacking boards in my coffin bag for travel. The daylite series is made from the cheap plastic poly tarp material on the outside layers and bubble wrap inside. Used to use wool army blankets or cheap cotton sleeping bags for shorter boards long ago, layer in some bubble wrap and you got all kinds of possibilities. Good luck. > What kind of board bags do you folks like? I’m gonna have to stick my > longboard in the bed or my truck with the tail sticking out and I want to > protect it from the tailgate. What kind of board bags do you folks like? I use FCS. The kind with the silver synthetic material and nice padding and a velcro fin slot. Also has a mesh pouch on the side for a wet suit and other gear. Won’t mildew either. Not cheap, but well worth it.

My wife makes board bags out of sleeping bag material. She uses the same design as drawstring sock types but the material is slick and the boards slide right in. An added bonus is it can double as a sleeping back.
