Well I finally finished my board and I need to get it glassed. Does anyone know of a good glasser down here in the San Diego area. I am in Solana Beach. I know all the big guys are really busy right now so any names would help.
Dont be scared do it yourself. There’s plenty of help around and you’ll get a buzz from doing it. I am yet to glass mine. I thought about getting someone else to do it because I was scared of failure. The people on this forum have been fantastic with their information and have given me the confidence to go for it. I would also take into consideration the extra costs in getting someone else to do it.
Close your eyes, take a big deep breath and finish it yourself.
Jason, I thought about having someone else glass my first shape also. But some how that would have diminished the joy of completing the board from start to finish. Although a pro glass job would have been better looking, the lessons learned from doing it myself are priceless. I have only made 5 boards but have gained knowledge from each one. So dive in, you would be surprised how much you can do with a little help from those that post here and a little determination. You will also save some money.
I’m currently glassing my first shape as I type. So far, we’ve only done the bottom, but it is a very unique experience. Do some research and ask a shaper/glasser or two for any real world advice to make the process easier. Be sure that you’ve got all your material on hand because you don’t wanna be in the middle of glassing when you realize you dont have something. Good luck.
Glass it yourself, why take a rookie shape to a pro glasser? You will feel much better about it if you are doing it all yourself…and learn a great deal in the process…have fun…peace and waves…
