Board ID Please

I rescued this board that was headed to the landfill.  Circa 1970s, no logos.  The only thing I could ID was the fin (Dol Fin by Fins Unilimited/Mike Hynson).  I was drawn to the really interesting blank, with solid blue and yellow dyed foam, cut into strips and then glued up vertically.  Is anyone familiar with this, was there a particular factory that made these boards back in the day?  Thanks.

The fin would be no use in ID-ing the board. Any shape that had an FU box could use any number of fins. Most off the rack boards came with no fin and you just picked whichever one suited you when you bought a new board. Holds true today, in most instances of single fin designs.

My guess is that it’s a backyard shape. Colored foam stringers were quite popular in the mid 60s, right before shorter boards came along. But, I do not recall any manufacturer using or touting colored foam blanks. The shop I worked for in '67 scored a colored foam blank as a sample. I think it came from Foss, as that’s where we got our blanks from, which were mostly popouts.

Cool looking thing, anyway. I guess you to plan to reshape/recycle it? It will make a unique item, that’s for sure.

Cool, thanks for the info.  Yes I’m going to try and re-shape it into a more modern single fin.  I was able to get a pretty clean 6’0 blank from the original 7’6.  I hope this colored foam does not contaminate my tools and stick to the next board…
