board opinions needed (fin placement and tail)

Hi, my friend owns this board and i am going to buid him somthing similar that will hopfully get rid of the probem he is having with this one. He says when riding or getting up his foot is comming off the back of the board.

Its 5.2  22   2 1/2, the big tail gap is loosing 4" of the tail space.

Do you guys think the fins are in the right place?

Do you think the tai pad is to far forward and should be back where there isnt board but a hole!

I an thinking of doing the new board same shape but with a double diamond

Thanks keith.

Only time I ever had that problem, steping off back of board, was when my board was too short.

I’d rout in another leash plug and move the tail pad back a couple inches.   Probably stagger the fin sizes by using a big twin up front and smaller sidebite sized rears.   That’ll put the center of effort and leverage a little further forward.

I was thinking like ace, make the next one a little longer.

I would just lose the pad altogether.

Thanks for the feedback guys , I think a 5.6 would be better for him

how tall is he?

Lot’s of guys riding 5’2"s with no problems.

It’s shorter than I have ever gone but the plethora of minisims etc. out there tells me that the length isn’t too extreme.

tailpad is way too far forward imo.

I am whith Phebus, just lose the tailpad alltogether.

He’s gonna want his foot right back on the crack imo.

Looks like a board made by a trend follower, not a trend setter. Sometimes something like this is the result… Make something that looks like the original but it’s fakin the funk.

If your board (haha)… Drop some boxes in the nose and surf it backwards… Probably work better then it does now and who knows, maybe it will be a trend setter?

Or loose the pad and ride as a twin.

  1. Tailpad off. Adjust stance, back foot back a couple inches. put pad back when you know where to put it, if desired.

  2. Switch to symmetrical or 60/40 or 80/20 foil on rear fins, he may be falling when all 4 assym fins hook up at same time.

  3. Fill in the felix gap, partly or completely. Try as a swallow first perhaps.

he’s about 5.10 170bs, so as you say 5.2 s not out of the question.

Think the answer is more tail room to stand on. (pad not helping)

Felix Gap.

Righteo!

I’m guessing this “felix gap” you guys are refering to is the large cut out in the tail, but who or what is felix?
