Board repair finish/paint help

HI there

I have searched the forum and still need some help.  I fixed up this windsurfer (divinycell sandwhich construction)

[img_assist|nid=1052468|title=kona 11.5 repair 3|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=640|height=480]

It is the first type of repair i have done. Basically, I had to laminate in layers of corecel to fill in damaged foam, then i epoxied fiberglass over the top and then used fairing compound to smooth it all out.

I used west systems epoxy (not RR) so my question is how necessary is paint to prevent UV damage?

If required what is the simplest paint to use and is a primer required?

I bought some of this stuff:

But am wondering can i just slap it on without primer? Or would something else be better. I am not so worried about looks.

Thanks

Roland

To repair the painted finish on epoxy contruction boards I go to my local auto car care center and buy a spray can of touch up paint- if you look hard enough you can usually find a colour close enough and also buy spray putty and primers etc- in Sydney I use Auto One for paints and accessories. The better the preperation the better the finish. PM me if you want me to give more details on how I finish them off, I repair maybe ten epoxy boards a week.

HI craig:

thanks for the tip.  I am in cali (but actually grew up in Mona Vale) I imagine the auto paint in the US is probably similar.

cheers
