Hi, recently I went over the falls at a beach break and did some damage to my Hero. It created an opening where the wood deck plate ended. There is no glass on the wood and I am wondering how to proceed with a repair. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
It’s kinda hard to tell what’s going on there. At least for me.
I see some water intrusion stains by the handle and the big rail ding lower right corner of pic.
It also looks like there was a bunch of filler used, maybe after glass before paint.

Agreed, stingray. Best solution for any SUP, no matter what condition it’s in. Though I would use a skilsaw, as it’s a bit faster.
Thanks
Dry it out. Scuff it/sand it and put a layer of 2 oz or 4 oz over it. If you don’t; You will never be sure that it is water tight. Most of the boards that come out of Asia are veneered with no glass over the veneer. They are sprayed with Polyurethane. Once there is damage to the veneer or the adjoining foam you can never be sure it is water tight without a layer of cloth over it. It is easily done and can be repaired in such a way that it is invisible. Lowel
Thanks a bunch… also going to add a vent
I removed the handle and saw dirty stains on the foam…good call…once again thanks
