Board repair with vector net

Someone contacted me about a repair, the bottom of the board was cracked all the way across byt he fins. Its a poly construction board.  I was thinking of using a vector net to hide the crack and just do a tail laminate. Can you use poly resin? Has anyone used this net before for repair? Should I follow up with a layer of 4 oz on top of the net?

My question is:

All what You need is fiberglass. Vector net is a gimmick to sell techy new surfboards LOL.

Yes it is.

All the best

Personally, I would just use a couple layers of 6oz and a dermal to grind into the crack, I do not think you will want to use any vector net.  The net does work with poly resin.

Update on the board is its an epoxy, bottom looks cracked and if you push on the tail it opens up a bit. Im going to try to warm the bard open the crack and pour some expoy in it, then use something heavy to keep it closed back up. I was thinking 2 layers ov 4 oz would work one smaller one abour 2’ overlap of the crack and then follow up with large 4 oz tail patch covering the whole fin area.

Pay close attention not to change rocker when gluing. Point given.

What lemat says. ^^^^^^

I had a  triple six glassed poly  travel board that developed less extensive cracking than in photo, reaching only from stringer to behind fin box on my toe side rail.

Each repair, slightly stronger and thicker than previous, kept cracking at nearly the same spot.  I would feel it crack when riding.  Even wrapping the rail with 2 layers of 6 oz and leaving it thick on the bottom did not work.  Even before it would crack the board had lose some of its magic and felt dull.

I gave up on it.  The stresses were too much.  The board was always going to flex behind finbox and even knowing this and fighting it, it cracked again.

Do not guarantee this attempted repair, in my opinion.

I told the client there was no guarentee on this repair, he just wanted to get some more life out of it. Rocker should be fine its cracked through most of the foam and on the rails. Its a bad spot for damage for sure. Thanks for the info everyone!!

vector net…oh you mean a ham bag?

YEah man!! I thought it would hide the crack beter than glass job.

OMG.

Ham Bag.

Thanks for the laugh!
