Board swap halfway through construction, Yes or No??

Ok, i have a 6’8’’ big guy tri under way, and due to being cut down from a 7’5’’ blank, it has 3’’ nose, and 3’’ tail rocker. I also have a 6’5’’ roughed out single fin, on a 6’6’’ kneeboard blank. Now, i have just this morning thought of an idea. I’m thinking of turning the big guy tri into a small ( 6’ or shorter ) single fin, and my single fin into a thruster. My reasoning, is that the kneeboard blank has 4 5/16 nose rocker, and 2 1/4 tail rocker, which i think would be ok for a thruster, and the BGT has 3’’ nose, and 3" tail rocker. If i shorten the BGT blank, i should be able to get down to 2" or even less tail rocker, which i think would work better on a single fin. I would have to go down to 19" on the single, but hey, that’s still not too bad.

If you aren’t confused by now, any advice would be much appreciated.

If you are using a PU blank the foam will get soft in the middle. If it’s EPS foam go for it.

ian has a good case.

i’d say thruster gets the more rockered template, and the single fin gets the less rockered template, if templates allow you to make changes. I mean a single fin with performance thruster rocker, rails and outline, might not be as cruisy single . . .

If the blanks have room (thickness), you can shape the rocker but generally I’ve seen that done before the outline is taken . . .

Thanks for your replies guys.

Both blanks are PU, but they are “red” foam . I use surfblanks, and they use “green” foam for pros, “blue” foam is next in line which is a bit more dense, then comes “red” foam. I also plan on glassing with 6 oz bottom, and double 6 oz deck, so im willing to take the risk on the foam. Other than that, i have remarked my single fin template, and i can fit a decent sized thruster in it. Im only new to this, but i think switching the blanks would make sense rocker wise. And, yes, they are still very thick, the big guy tri is close to 2 7/8, and the single hasnt been touched, so is still just over 3’'.
