BoardCAD version 0.5

While others are putting effort into making their software and board models as closed as possible, we continue to make our program even more open. The latest version of BoardCAD makes it possible to export an exact copy of the board using STEP, STL, or DXF. These formats are supported by most standard CAD/CAM systems, so you never have to worry about your models being restricted to a specific software or machine. The latest version of BoardCAD also gives you more freedom in design by supporting advanced forms as swallow tails and bat tails. Finally, as BoardCAD is open source you are free to download the source code and make any changes you want to the program. You find the program and a tutorial on how to use it on www.surfineurope.net

Jonas, Big up bru!

It’s a bit slow on my mac though but I’ll keep playing around with it. Soon wil have my new Linux box dedicated to cad stuff so Boardcad will be one of the first things I test!

DXF files are important…

Thanks,

The current DXF export uses 3dfaces. These works with most CAD-programs, but some CAM-systems do support them. Let us know if the current version does not work for you and we will add a function that exports curves instead of surfaces.

best regards,

Jonas
