Boat Builders...Resin Qeustion

I spend hallf time landlocked and the other half near the ocean and surfboard suppliers. My shop is in the mountains of Maryland and I occasionally run into a pinch with running out of resin. There is a local boat building company that can supply my with a  “pink ortho poly laminating resin” supplied to them by North American Composites. Does anyone know if this is compatible with surfboard construction. The flag went up when they said it was pink…

Thanks in advance.

Bob

That’s the kind of resin I used back in 1970 when none other was available. There was this refrigerated truck builder who would sell me foam insulation panels and this pink resin… The truth is, you can make surfboards out of that. But then you can also make surfboards out of cardboard: it’s been done, too…

Oh, BTW, “ortho” stands for “orthophtalic” as opposed to “isophtalic”. And isophtalic resins are known to be much more resistant to water contact, from what I know…
