Bob Krause - Santa Barbara underground

Bob Krause 1947- July 29, 2001 My friends, I have some bad news today. We received word that Bob Krause has been killed in an automobile accident while on a surfing expedition in Costa Rica. Bob was driving a rented Toyota 4x4 truck, accompanied by his 2 star riders Blake Howard and Luke Devos of Carpinteria. According to Blake Howard, Bob lost control on a curve and rolled 5 times in the vicinity of Jaco Beach. Bob was killed instantly, yet Blake made it through without injury and Luke, who had just fastened his seatbelt, got 5 stitches to a minor head wound. Bob wasn’t so lucky and won’t be coming home from his last surf trip. Surfers and windsurfers, friends and family will always remember Bob’s smiling face at the beach, where he would often be heard to say as he looked over the sea he loved to play in, " Twas ever thus …" July 29, 2001 Tuesday evening update: Watch here for details of a BK Paddle Out Friday Aug. 3, 2001 to celebrate the wonderful life of Bob Krause. Also, I’ve posted some great shots of Bob here on a memorial page I started, Contributors may send .jpg images, photos or words and I’ll get them up here. http://home.pacbell.net/bkshapes/images/bk2

I am truly sorry for your loss…ALOHA Bob,Herb.

BK shaped me one of the best surfboards I’ve ever had in my entire life, an early prototype Channel Islands Twin Finner. That board reinvented surfing for me. I never got to met him, but did send him a thank you letter. He was a true talent.
