Bob McTavish Blue Bird video.

I’m not sure if this has been posted anywhere yet. I checked the archives and drew a blank. Anyway, I enjoyed this vid. I especially liked seeing the same blokes working on the same shapes that they had fourty years ago. Another minor detail was the planer that Bob uses. It looks pretty modern and un-modified. This aligns with my theory that it’s more about the skills a craftsman has rather than the tools he uses.

Edit: Sorry, the link doesn’t seem to work through the forum. Strange… The vid is called “Blue Bird” and can be found on Vimeo. If anyone more tech savvy than me can find a way to link it feel free.

That’s awesome! I have a question if anyone feels like enlightening me…

How do they get the leash loops such nice shape? With the ends pulled in all perfect? Fin roving built up and then sanded to shape?

Great Video

Tri Fin at the beginning

Shapers in OZ did not have depth adjustments  like Skil 100 users do .

I saw that somewhere else.  Cant remember when. I like it.  Trimming and turning from the front half of the board feels so good.Mike
