Bodyboard skin

Hey you guys,

I’m searching for information/sources for the material that’s used for the skins of bodyboards. I searched around on the web, but most sites are pretty vague. Thanks! -Carl

Polyethylene, PE,    HDPE

Thanks, I was mostly interested in the foam that they use on the tops & rails. Anyone else got anything? I’m sure there’s some bodyboarders lurking out there. -Carl

Sorry the best I can do is feed you the answer. You have to do the rest.

Actually, you gave me an answer. Not “the” answer. Pretty vague, and available by a simple google search. I was looking for something a bit more in depth. I already dragged up this old thread: http://www2.swaylocks.com/node/1014701 but it seems to rotate around EVA as a skin material. I was interested in what people had to say about Polypro and also PE, as skins not cores. Thanks. -Carl

Alright I give up

I’m a google search box:  ‘PE deck skin’

http://www.goodtime.com.au/category/blog-tags/custom-x

Right. Thanks for that. I think you missed my point, I wasn’t looking for what it is, more about where I can get it, and the pros/cons of different materials. -Carl

I dont know what to say except your all over the map in your replies to me.

PE was wrong, now I give you a link indicating the market terms they use in assoc. with PE for deck skins,  like ‘Cellu-Cushion® 8lb PE Deck Skin’ or ‘IXL Cross Link PE Deck Skin’

and nothing is ever good enough.

I’m done.

Some years back I did a rehab on an 8’ BZ Doyle. Bottom skin was shot to hell. I found an outfit in NJ that makes custom bodyboards and they sold me the material I needed. Unfortunately, the max length they had was 4’ so I had to ‘two-piece’ the repair.

I cannot recall the name of the company. It was about 10 years ago. Try a search for ‘custom bodyboards’. Anyone who builds them ought to have the stuff.
