The first European report of surfing described was of Hawaiians riding prone on paipo boards. But isn’t bodysurfing the most basic and elemental form of wave riding? I wonder why no bodysurfers were observed?
because the bodysurfers were stealthy and were so deep in the barrel that captain cook thought they were marine mammals.
