I understand there are multiple factors to consider but, without getting to technical. What is the recommended fin placement for a center fin in a bonzer with a fins unlimited box? (i.e. 7" from the tail to rear of fin base).
Thanks.

1/4" overlap with rear bonzer fins.
…5 1/2 from the tail in small board
…5 3/4 - 6 medium size board
…6 _ 9 feet long board
1/4" overlap with rear bonzer fins.
Yep. This is exactly what I was told by J.P. from Moonlight and since they are glassing and selling Malcolm’s boards in California now, he would know! Mine is in a fin box of course so I can move it around and when I got the board it was further back but I pushed it up to the recommended spot.
5 and 3/4 for the center, and 1/4 in. over lap on the rest of the side fins.
also you might want to try a fin with a slightly narrower base than the ‘traditional’ bonzer center fin—it’s all on your preference of course, but i really like a narrower base fin on my bonzer and while the 1/4" overlap is consider THE place, don’t be afraid to move about a bit—you might like the result–it’s part of the "experience’
Walrus,
What are the narrow base fin dimensions?
I would like to try one out. Any brand do you
recomend?

dog: on my 7’8" campbell bros 5-fin i’m using a 6" tall fin with a narrow base(not cut-out) which is about 4.5 inch.
it’s set at about 1/2" behind the tailing edge of the last pair of side fins----that works really well for me in the widest range of conditions—the traditional bonzer fin seems to track too much for my style of riding-----
i use a 7" fin of the same shape in my bonzer semi-gun----i like it!
Walrus,
I have 9’2" Bonzer5 hybrid and with the traditional bonzer fin the board is too stiff so
I moved the fin up and that really helped. I want to try a narrow base fin though and see the difference.
Did you buy the narrow base fin from True Ames, Rainbow or Fiberglass Supply?
Thanks,
Olddog,
my son and i get most fins from Rainbow but a few from true ames , but they are a bit pricy—actually i went out to the shed and looked at the fin in my 7’8" bonzer and i have NO idea where that thing came from!!! go fo it thats half the fun

i have to agree with walrus. unless it’s pretty heavy hollow, big surf, in the bonzers I have ridden i use a thruster trailer. I am a feather weight so it makes the board loose enough for me to utilize the fin set up. The thruster trailer also made the one wider tailed board really light up in shitty mushy conditions.
Walrus,
I decided to modify my Bonzer fin and narrow the base. I have looked for one but
the template is hard to find.
Thanks,
Olddog
