Bottom contour for a McKee-style quad?

Hello swaylocks,

I already built two longboards and I really like them a lot! I’m a fan of this configuration, works great for me with the boards I built.

But while considering a new project I came to the point, that the bottom shape I used between the fins is maybe not the optimum.

I used a “classic” double concave that has the apex in the symmetry line of the board. In a 2+1 or single fin or quad with the rears outside approach, this makes really sense to me.

But the McKee setup has the rears near to the stringer so I think that it could be more useful to move the apex to place where the rears sit.

Made a scribble to explain better, what I mean:

What do you think of this bottom design? Will it turn better or worse? Will the speed increase or decrease?

Cheers,

Andi

I would say that if you’re not sure then give it a flat bottom. That’s what I do at any rate. They go fine.  Hard to mess it up!
