I do not find V that extreme tracky…I have taken V that far and even further with good results…It is all about fin and fin placement as to track or no track.
No router? you can use a razor blade or a very sharp knife to make the initial cut into the foam the do diagonal cuts to get rid of the foam. Think of how a carpenter would do a slot in wood using only hand tools. The stringer will be a problem, but a sharp chisel will work. I did my first set of boards this way, then I got a dremel and moved up to a laminate router.
A sharp razor blade will make very clean cuts into the foam. Just line up your box, make your marks and go slowly. Shouldn’t take too long.
It is also possible to put a 1/4" shaft router bit in a drill, but you need really strong steady hands to hold it just right.
10.5 bahne box, should give me enough to figure that out, dont you think?
thanks Ace
thanks
theres got to be some sort of micro saw out there. for Legos or whatnot
ill be looking
A steady hand and razor blades you will be suprised what can be done…I watched the man in the big hat and funny glasses perform miracles with nothing more than that. Standard Bahne box should give you lots of room to play with. My 2 cents worth don’t put it too far forward box 5’‘’ from tail lets me get fins in spots I like. Some guys like fins way further from tail I like em back more personal tast trial and errror fun fun fun
sounds good. the man with the hat and glasses, care to enlighten me?
thanks
Ace, what’s your thoughts on placement of a center fin on a 2+1 setup? Do you set your center off where the side bites are placed (glass ons) or do you set it a distance from the tail regardless? Any others thoughts on this would be appreciated also.
I stalked the local pawn shops, and scored a Marktec trim router for 50 bucks and it works a treat. It’s Marktec is the cheaper version of a makita, as in makita make them.
Looks like Ekstrom to me
aha! mr Ekstrom, of course
I set my fins based on a jig “Findicator” that I developed over time and repetition of fin placement. I veiw fins + placement + boxes as a unit that shifts aand slides to board length tail width etc…
