Man, GT4o’s were one sweet ride, god Bless Mr. Shelby. Those are Sci Fi GT’s.
Not to be a Dick here but this thread is getting a lot of action and rightly so. Cars are bitchin. Try to take a look at the “Save the Crab” thread. This is a VERY big deal and it could happen to anyones home break.
I have to tell you guys this “story.” It’s something that has made me really think about the possibility of reincarnation, or some kind of genetic messaging.
Since my daughter was about 2 or 3 years old she could recognize Porsches driving around. She could barely talk and we’d be in the car and she’d be like, “Porsche!” One day on the freeway she spots a Porsche, but my wife and I look around and can’t see one. But she insists, “The Porsche TRUCK.” Somehow she spotted a Porsche Cayenne from behind. From behind it looks like any other SUV. I don’t know how she could distinguish it. Maybe really good eyesight and she spotted the logo???
Then one day, again she must have been about 3 years old. I remember because I’m holding her in my arms looking out a window and she says, “Porsche!” I look around the parking lot below and don’t see a Porsche. But she insists, “The BLACK one!” I look around and she’s spotted a black 928! How the heck did she know what a 928 looks like??? Neither my wife nor I have any particular interest in Porsches. My dad, who passed away before she was born, owned one, a 356 “Super 90.”
Incarnation? Genetic messaging?
She’s asked me many times why I don’t buy a Porsche. I told her because I can’t transport surfboards. She’s not stupid. She told me to put them on top. Better not show her that Robbie Naish video.
since when do rental companies offer vans with floral color schemes!?

I was at Keith Melville's house one day last fall.....I copied his setup....I like the sander and it hooks up to my shop vac.....
Ray
I used the floral print fabric to hide the buckle / repair.....Then I covered the whole thing with fiberglass cloth and resin in a dimond pattern.......She's lam'd and hot coated...just need to sand it smooth and fix a couple of small dings I found....

Serious Tblank she drove a TR6 Triumph back in the early eighties and would wrech on the car (Chaged the breaks her self).
I don’t know since when. But I do know they offer other patterns, too (many of them by Drew Brophy, BTW):
Man I love all the cars on here! Mopar, Ferrari, Chevy, Ford, you name it. Mike and I seem to be the big race car guys here. Thanks for the pics Mike. I’m rooting for Rayhal/letterman too. I’ve got a 325ci. Great car but I wish I’d ponied up for the M3. Any way…
You can probably till from my earlier post. I’m a vette guy. Since I was 4 or 5 I would ramble on about vettes and how i would have one. Finally my dad told me to shut up and put my money where my mouth was.
The result was a plan jane 2000 rag top. You can’t see it in the photos but the paint needed alot of touching up on the nose. I got a smoking deal.
2 weeks later…The driver of the Ford F650 Gulf Power truck said and I qoute “I didn’t see you”. I’m in a bright yellow corvette!!!
I was CRUSHED!!! Until the next morning @ 8:01AM and the phone rang. Gulf Power. “What will it take for you not to sue us?”. They’re self insured and had alot on they’re plate at the time (hurricane Ivan). Nicest people I’ve ever dealt with. With that money I finally stepped up to the plate.
2002 Z06. Lowered it an inch. Shoehorned the biggest cam MTI had for the street. Long tube headers and 3" striaght pipes. You should hear the sound!! It put about 410hp to the ground. Up a 100hp or so from stock. I just about killed myself in that car for 3 years. Time went by. I met a girl, moved in to a house without a garage. Dogs. etc… Now I drive this.
No regrets. She lets me drive the 325ci sometimes and I can fit a 9’ 8" log in the element. Oh, if there are any element owners out there, if you put straps from on the grab handles front and back, you can put two short boards above your head. Plenty of room.
I was in Buenos Aires for the start of the Dakar Rally…the friend I was staying with lived only 3 blocks away. Here’s a few:
The interior of the honda element defies space and time. Seriously.
WOW!! I never thought that the corvettes body pannels were maid out of fibreglass 8-)!! Must be very light then!
Retro, They have been fiberglass from the beginning, that’s what made them so quick, way lighter body weight. Even the ones with just a 350ci. (5.0 liter) were faster than the Mustangs and others with comparable power. The guy who taught me to polish off my laminating skills was for a while, thee corvette body guy in our area. The new ones are carbon fiber composites.
Hate to nitpick but… 5.75 liters is 350ci. LS1 and LS6 motors were 5.7 which is 348ci.
But ya, your right they have always been fiber. The C2 (1958?-1962) had a one piece fiberglass body. The trunk and hood were separate everything else was one piece. Frickin nightmare to restore.
I’ve got a plan to make a surfboard thats a grand sport replica. I just think that’s a little over my head glassing wise.
OK. 350ci=5.75L
