Hi, after laminating with epoxy on a spackled EPS blank yesterday I came back after aprox. 1 hour and the tail had a 6"x6" inch bubble. I flattened it out, but when I came back after about 2 hours it had another, even larger bubble on the other side of the stringer. I was able to flatten it out pretty good too although it was a bit stiff and sticky. Ended up being a bit wrinckly. Never had this happen to me before(and I’m a lam screw up…) I think the lam was a bit resin rich, but why would that cause a bubble? Humidity in the blank? Anyone got an idea what’s going on? regards, Håvard
might have too much spackle, or slighty uncured spackle. that could cause the delam.
hi, I had the same problem with EPS and epoxy when i laminated in the winter. The air in the blank is cold and my laminating/curing room was (too) hot. The air expand and cause the delams. I also have problems with airbubbles on EPS repairs(finbox, leashplug), mostly when the board is in the sun or hot room after the repair. Try to doo repairs in the morning.
Geert, thanks. That might be it. I lammed outdoors, the brought it inside after I was done. I guess the temp outside was much lower then inside once I was done. regards, Håvard
