Its my first time shaping and glassing a surfboard and it went well except for bubbles underneath my stencil on rice paper i think i didnt put enough resin underneath and it didnt soak through. Most of them are stiff and i cant compress them but a couple are soft. Ive seen that i can inject them with more resin and weight them but im worried that it wont create a smooth suface on the bottom. Wondering what my options are? Any help would be great
On a printed rice paper stencil of that size; the method you describes is about all you can do. If you inject resin, be sure to leave a pin hole for the excess resin to squeeze out or drain onto the surface then weight the bubble down and hope for the best. If you time it right you should be able to remove the resin that comes to the surface with a razor blade. Sand the spot slightly and apply a small football patch over the bubble.
Try rubbing resin into them with your finger. You can usually rub pretty hard on a spot like that. First time try rubbing resin without MEK. Wipe off the excess and then come back again with catalyzed resin and rub it in a second time.
