Bumper Spongy rails (Cork, EVA)?

It’s getting really busy at my local. I’ve started renting a foamie.
Any idea how to make a seemless connection between rail and the bottom of the board?

I think softtech managed to do it but I don’t know how.
The cork I sourced just isn’t strong enough for hard edges. Perhaps some denser stuff might work better.

Rubber is heavy but maybe it’s worth a try?

…maybe some pictures: photos, drawings, or diagrams, of what you are trying to accomplish?

Here’s a picture. I’m a bit slow

Only used a hard board on a 2 week trip to Bali since this post. The whole rest of the time I’ve been using a foamie and it’s a bit disturbing. A way to make a board that’s soft but not an environmental disaster would be great.

Even so, curious to know how they keep the EVA glued down, what stops water getting into the EPS and how they make the more defined, single construction EVA rails now.

Searched a lot more and found there’s plenty of developments I missed. This quote is the main one of interest:

“Hand shaped soft top surfboards: Recently, we have seen a counter movement of hand shaped soft top boards. We’re hoping to publish more about this soon!”
