Hi, I just wanted to know if anyone out there has ever glassed in a normal
bumper sticker. My board is now mostly baby blue and I wanted to glass
in a sticker in the last coat of epoxy.
No, it’s a very bad idea in my opinion. Most stickers materials will react with either styrene or catalyst or epoxy hardener and make wrinkles all over. Besides, they are so smooth that resin won’t correctly adhere to them and you’re bound to delamination.
I suggest you copy your bumper sticker then print it on rice paper and laminate it under a patch of 2 oz cloth.
Howzit Lance, How is the surf over there? I have been to Lanai a few times and seemed to me that the slot side of the island had some potental, I remember a ship wreck that had waves breaking at both the front and the bow of the ship. Been a long time since I have been there and not even sure if that ship is still there. By the way welcome to Swaylocks.Aloha,Kokua
Hi Balsa, thanks for the input/suggestion. I think that’s what I’ll do. Got a ways to go, still trying to make this old chewed up board look right, rails etc... But It will get there. Thanks!
Hi Kokua, I am not much of a surfer yet but from what I can tell, it is seasonally good on the south side at Hulopoe but only one smallish area breaking in the bay. Seems to nearly always be good on the west side at Lopa/Stonshack, which are about 45 min. each way off road. On the north side at shipwreck, it seems to be more kite-boarders, very windy/chopy. Aloha - lance
Nah, just stick the bumper sticker on after you’re done, and make sure you get it on real good. That should last for a while. If it’s on the top, the wax will cover it up and it won’t come off.
