No one get’s out alive.

i remember his name from somewhere. I will definetly check it out.

I believe Johnny Knoxville played the part of Bunker Spreckles in Lords of DogTown movie.

Yeah, Knoxville played that role, but with a different name. This looks really interesting, I always wanted to know more about Bunker.

Howzit monkeyshines, I knew Bunker and he was the kind of guy who either liked you or didn’t, there was no middle ground. Awesome surfer and the last time I saw him was he was paddling out at Hanalei as I was comling in. Asked me how I was doing, told him just fine and asked him the same, to which he replied the same. Was totally blown away with his death but he was always pushing the enevelope in all aspects of life. In the video they show Vinnie Bryan and he shaped most of Bunkers boards and also rode some of the same. They broke the mold after Bunker was born, god I miss him.Aloha,Kokua

Bunker had the best chicks! John Riddle shaped a few also under Bunkers house .

Awesome!

The characters we meet surfing are half the fun. That’s why surfing going mainstream at your local beach is bummer. All the guys that blazed trails and colored the place moved on to new frontiers.

Then again you don’t have to fight weirdo’s and drug addicts and get stabbed in the parking lot while changing out of your wetsuit.

San Diego

Howzit nomat, You do know that Rids had a heart attack just recently after a surf. Unfortunately Bunkers house was torn down and a new house built on the lot by new owners. Rids house is on a flag lot just off the main road. The only time I ever saw Bunker out of comtrol was one night at the Dolphin restaurant when he dragged his wife out of a booth and out the front door by her hair, ouch. you got that right.

Surfer’s Journal did a thing on Bunker very early in their history, i think year two or three. lots of stuff i didn’t know. met him once while in grad school at UH—some nutty north shore party…i was really sure that he was NOT from my planet! sure could surf those funny boards though

Edge boards

I am currently reading about The Spreckle’s family in my history class. Interesting the people who made surfing illegal later become surfers themselves?
