bustin' down the door...

movie about mid-seventies era on north shore and the push( by a few) to make a living off of surfing. kind of curious to see how it is accepted, interpreted…

Obviously, a great era for surfing. Hopefully, they did a good job. I am really excited about this movie.

saw it last night at sb film festival…thought it could use some more editing.cool to see what everyone had to say, but seemed a little one-sided (no props given to guys before them that were professional surfers-paid by sponsors and earned whatever from contest results, ) and a little too long. would have ben nice to see footage/photos other than the same ones we saw back then…

I saw it as well- I enjoyed the evening, seeing all those guys that I’ve only seen in 2 dimensions for so long (except ST, i see him enough at Rincon thank you very much). I guess the movie sorta mirrored that whole deal with the Aussies, a bit self serving. I thought Clyde Aikau’s comments from the Hawaiians point of view was more valuable than Eddie Rothman’s. They used too much Rothman footage- and IMHO it really didn’t help shed as good a light on the Hawaiians point of view as much as Aikau’s or even BK’s words. Anyway, nice to see some of that old footage on the big screen again and at the end it was nice to see Reno there commenting on the evolution of MR’s quiver.

agreed about Clyde and BK-true aloha from those two for sure…
