I am going to be heading to VA to see some close friends for spring break in two weeks and was thinking about spending part of the week looking for surf in the carolina area. I was wondering if you experts from up there have any suggestions on where to go or even if you wanted to meet up for a surf. Obviously a lot will hinge on if there is actually surf or not, but still, maybe just a paddle out! Im hopin to have my SUP done by then and if so I will be bringing that for sure, so if theboys are lurking, shout out and maybe we can go for a paddle.
I’m not sure about SUP but i would have to say Hatteras and the northern part of Ocacoke (the last time i was there there were some nice sand bars but thats about 300 yards from a dead pier(I would not surf on or next to the dead pier area theres lots of fishers and fish and from time to time a shark or to that just stay around the pier) but if you’re planing to make a road trip I would just head down the outer banks and then take the fairy back to the “main land” and then head down to wrightsville. If you want to hang around the OBX ask the surf shops (their normally helpful) for the beach access areas and look around from the beach. But kitty hawk and hatteras are two good spots, if you get hatteras on a good day then you may what to have an extra board. Hopes this helps any - logan
Go past Nags Head heading south until you pass the Oregon Inlet Bridge. You will come to Pea Island National Refuge that has miles of secluded coast line and a series of endless sandbars. If theres a swell your in for a fun times with zero crowd. Pm me if you want to get up with me and some friend for a surf, we go down there alot.
Sounds good guys, I will pm you when it gets closer and maybe we can have a go at it. Im stoked the SUP is about to be done and it is looking freakin Amazing. I’ll be in touch.
