calling Greg Loehr [ re : a c.1995 swallowtail of yours]

hi Greg ,

I was just wondering if you had some info on this board , please ? [ it featured in a “fish called wonders” article in the September 1995 issue of “Surfing” magazine ]

Was it an epoxy one ?

did you ride it much ?

what were the nose and tail dimensions …any chance you still have it , or a record of those dimensions, by any chance ?

thanks !

the “whole board photo” , among others …

sweet under water pics of those boards

i expect nothing less from A.C.

Ben, I have a 5 year old Loehr fish. Looks like the result of all the experimentation he did earlier. I’ve copied it so many times I call it the Mother board. I’m emailing the pic to you, hoping you can post it in low resolution. I love this board. Most favorite board ever.

thanks Greg !

…care to tell us a bit about it ?

 ben

I just emailed it to you. Hopefully you can post it in low res.

6-10, 21 7/8 wide, about 3/8 Vee in the tail starting about 20 inches above the twin fins. It came with Mark Spindlers tuna fins trailing the twins. Can’t say that I can tell the difference. Relatively low rocker. Full rails, a little edgey in the tail. I think I can attach the specs here. Edited. Oops. It is attached as an EXCEL spreadsheet.

Anyone know how to cut and paste in the specs for those who can’t open an Excel sheet?

here it is , everybody …]

… have you got a shot of the bottom of it , too, please , Greg ?]

The 1/2 fish measurments ran around 12 N, 19 W and 15 T on a 6’er. The TFS ran about an inch wider throughout. The one in the picture was an early 1/2 fish. I ended up using square wings (MR style) on it later on which had a bit more drive.

At retirement I had the TFS, the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full fish models, the surf skate 1 & 2 and one other model I can’t remember the name of … age? So that was eight models. I really liked them all.

thanks Greg !

they sound like good measurements I would ride today , still !

do you still ride them a bit ?

I have some shots of you surfing somewhere in my mag collection , too . Would you be interested in seeing them ? [I think they are mostly single fin shots, though ?]

cheers !
