I just stumbled onto something interesting. A nano coating, 1/1000th the thickness of a human hair. It is called P2i. Gooogle up P2i Nano Coatings, and take a look. This product really seems to be what would be a breakthrough, if it was able to be applied to a surfboards.
Sorry to hear you’re suffering. My GF went through it recently but she pulled through OK and has been snow skiing so maybe there’s light at the end of the tunnel for you too?
Hang in there buddy. Don’t be afraid to gobble some pain meds when you need them.
Also, try your best to work through some of the pain early on while maintaining your range of motion. My GF couldn’t bear it and ended up going back in for manipulation under anesthesia to try to get some of it back after she stiffened up.
Most of us take so much for granted until we receive a wake up call of one type of another.
Best wishes Bernie. Have a goal. And stay true to it. That 8-0 Griff is calling your name. Remember that clear water. Sunny days. Paddle down the face. A little spray in your face. Accelerate. Wind in your face. Take a high line, a little pump and you are flying.
Don’t worry guys. He just got a bunch of new boards in the months preceeding the operation. He knows that I’m going to be all over them if he doesn’t get back in the water before too long. I think he must have 6 boards that haven’t been wet yet, so he’s got a lot of incentives to get back in the water.
Besides he needs to be walking OK if we are going to make it to the swayaholics event this year.
G’day mate, Knees are painful, heres some reading material from those of us who’ve had hips replaced. Some good stuff might help with recovery, good luck & be paitent! .http://surfingafterhipreplacement.wordpress.com/vistors-stories/. Oh yeah, is that a “board lump” just below your left knee, if it is man! havn’t seen one of those for years & years HA…
Betta home then hospiital, however, too damn many infections floating around
first week of any transplant is the worse
range of motion excercises will be critical
wishing you the best recovery possible!!
now 10 weeks post-op from my own hip replacement, working out hard every day, 90% there, can’t wait to get back on the board in a few more weeks. You’re gonna get there as well.
I think we should be the Frankenstein Brothers. Remember when we kids in Germany and would drive past the castle on the side of the mountain, and Dad said it was Frankenstein’s Castle. I wonder if there’s a Bernhardt or Gustave Frankenstein? Maybe one of our ancestors.
