Can anyone give me info on Russell Surfboards?

I am looking into buying a board made by Russell surfboards. I have never heard od Russell surfboards so I thought I would ask what their reputation is? DO they male good, quality boards?

what do YOU know about surfboards in general?..i mean there all foam and fiberglass,do the rails look like what you want?..glass job look good>rocker>i dont really think it matters who made it ,just so they made it good.

Back in the day, say circa 1970, Russells were a very good, well made and progressive board.

Though I dunno who owns the rights to the name now. Lots of the more or less defunct names like Challenger, Spoiler, Surfboards Australia and so on have been bought up and are stickers put on some of the imported boards. If it’s a new ‘Russell’, selling for cheap money and with the same look and finish as one of the known imported brands… well, bear that in mind. I’m not gonna get into whether the import boards are good, bad or indifferent, just know what you’re buying.

hope that’s of use

Howzit rickdog, Russel Surfboards is still owned and operated by Bob “Russel” Brown who has always been the owner. I know him personally bscause he has a house here in Wainiha and Bobby Allen (BASA Surfboards) has a house on the same property. His retail shop is in Newport Beach and his shaping and glassing shop is in Costa Mesa. He still gets in and shapes and does what ever needs to be done, so he’s a hands on owner which is something in this day and age when most of the older guys are retiring and going fishing. They are still in the business of making good quality surfboards and would can’t go wrong buying one. Aloha, Kokua
