Can I put sanding resin on top of sanding resin?

I think I know this answer, but…

Can I put sanding resin on top of sanding resin?

Here’s the scoop: I made a balsa handboard, about 18 inches by 12 inches, and glassed it with four ounce cloth, one per side, using laminating resin. Then, I trimmed it in the gel stage, and then put a layer of sanding resin over that.

Normal, right?

Well, as I’m sanding, I’m going through in a couple places (no big deal) and was wondering if I added another layer of sanding resin over the whole thing if it would stick.

Also, how fine of a grit should I go on this first sanding layer before I add another layer? I just sanded it flat with 60 grit, but am waiting to see what you guys say. I don’t want to keep sanding if I’m just going to add another layer of resin (unless I need to sand first).

Hope that made sense.

Thanks

By the way, I’ll post the handboard this week. It’s pretty cool. I call it: OTF Handboardsp; Leading the Industry Headfirst.

Shouldn’t be a problem. Leaving it rough is better, sand the whole thing rough, make sure there are no shiny spots left from the original sand coat (that’s the wax) and make sure it’s real clean–take all dust off, clean with a little acetone (not too much, it dissolves even cured resin) and recoat without touching it with fingers (grease).

Thanks. Dats what I thought.
